3 HUGE Benefits Of Renting A Dumpster During Rental Unit Cleanup

Posted on: 20 April 2016

Even though owning rental property, whether it is single-family homes or an apartment complex, can be rewarding, the job also comes along with some dirty work--especially when tenants vacate unexpectedly. You could be left with loads of trash to haul off and days of cleanup to do. Before you roll up your sleeves and get started on that next big rental cleanup job, make sure you look into renting a dumpster first. There are a handful of reasons why renting a dumpster for rental unit cleanup could be one of the wisest decisions you make.

1. Eliminate the clutter around your property.

Once one tenant moves out, if you are like most landlords, you will already be marketing the unit as vacant so you can hurry up and get someone new to fill the space. You definitely do not want prospective tenants swinging by a unit and taking a peek from the road when you have loads of trash and junk parked outside. That can look bad for the neighborhood and you as a landlord, as well. Having a dumpster parked outside at least allows you to keep everything you remove from the unit contained where it is out of sight.

2. Prevent pests from transferring from the trash to your other tenants' units.

Pests are commonly an issue in the trash and debris that tenants leave behind. From bed bugs to cockroaches and every pest in between, the last thing you want is to put your other tenants (or even just the neighboring houses) at risk by dragging all of the waste out to sit on the curb. Pests can and will travel to find new digs, so it is a much better idea to keep all of the removed waste tightly contained in a sealed trash receptacle.

3. Save time and money on trips to the waste collection center.

It is not at all that unusual for some tenants to seemingly just get up and leave the majority of their belongings behind. That means a lot of trips to eliminate waste for you since normal garbage collectors will only pick up so much at the curb. Save time and money on all those trips you would normally have to make to drop off furniture and trash by renting a dumpster. A rented dumpster will just require one set fee and will be removed only when you are ready.
